Lucky bastards we were, despite the lousy weatherforecast me and my colleagues from work had a lovely sunny weekend in Medembach, in Nordrein-Westfalen, Germany. Last year our secretary had won a trip on a radio show, and last weekend we cashed the price. A great moment for me to do some cycling training through the beautifull hills of the area that surrounds Medembach!

The fridaynight I arrived together with three other colleagues, and we had a few beers so I was not looking forward to get up really early. At 8AM when my alarm clock was trying to tell me something, I was surprised to see a clear blue sky and this motivated me enough to get up. I was going to cycle with Guillaume, and after a quick breakfast we got on our bicycles and cycled on the roads to freedom. We did around 72km, the views were peacefull and beautifull, and the track had some nice climbs who were not to steep and not to long. So I had a really relaxed training. For Guillaume it was a bit more exhausting because he didn’t train on his bicycle all winter, but it was obvious he is used to practicing sports as we had a pretty good tempo. Herr Guillaume

The dam at the Diemelsee Coming back from the ride our timing was perfect. Most of my other colleagues had arrived and lunch was being served. We all sat in the sun and enjoyed the warmth. Later that day we played squash for two hours on one court with seven people, this was a lot of fun. And pretty good for my body too, because some of my injuries felt better afterwards. I think this has got to do with the fact that I need to do something else besides cycling. Squash and swimming could be nice. Later that evening we all had to much to drink while playing a game called Party&Co. I think I went to sleep around 5AM.
The next day it was hard to get up. Especially because my body was very painfull. It’s not used to play squash for two hours. No sun anymore, but no rain either. To get my muscles relaxed again I did a 42 km ride on my own this time, and I had a really memorable swim in the afternoon. It was a perfect weekend.
