Voordat het startschot was gevallen viel de naam al regelmatig bij de mensen om mij heen: La Redoute. De zwaarste klim van deze koers boezemd veel ontzag in, ook al is deze nog zo kort. Eenmaal onderweg lieten velen weten het niet te zien zitten. Slechte benen, geen goede dag en dan ook nog de Redoute. Lopen zou het worden.
